SafeAssign and Wimba Classroom Maintenance

We apologize for the inconvenience, but the Blackboard SafeAssign service will be unavailable for scheduled maintenance on Tuesday, December 27th, 2011 from 7:00AM MST until 1:00PM MST. SafeAssign is being taken offline for a maintenance upgrade. During this outage SafeAssign will be unavailable. End-users will not be able to submit papers through SafeAssign during the planned downtime and will receive an error message if they attempt to do so. SafeAssign Originality Reports will not be available to Instructors or Students during the planned downtime, nor will Instructors be able to access SafeAssign DirectSubmit. Please make end-users aware of these limitations. Use of SafeAssign can continue as normal after the planned downtime are complete.

Additionally, Wimba Classroom will be undergoing maintenance during an extended maintenance window on Saturday, December 17th, at 8PM MST until 6:00AM MST on Sunday, December 18th. SafeAssign Update

Blackboard Managed Hosting has provided updated information regarding SafeAssign paper processing:

"SafeAssign is experiencing regular delays due to high load on the system. Given projections from historical usage, the significant delays of 12-24 hours or more will continue through the first week of December and then rapidly ease off in mid-December as the semester closes. Clients should expect that they will not see any significant improvement in turnaround times before mid-December.

As a reminder to instructors, please do not resubmit papers. This takes the submission and moves it to the back of the queue. Right now, the back log is over 120,000 papers."

Blackboard Maintenance

The Blackboard 9.1 Learning Management System will be undergoing additional maintenance as a result of the upgrade performed by the off-site Blackboard Managed Hosting team. Blackboard Upgrade Status

The Blackboard Learning Management System remains unavailable due to the upgrade to version 9.1. The off-site Blackboard Hosted Support team completing the upgrade has advised that it will now be complete at approximately 9pm MST.

Blackboard 9.1 Upgrade December 10th

On Saturday December 10th, UNC's current Blackboard version 9.0 will be upgraded by Blackboard to version 9.1. Final grades cannot be entered by faculty or accessed by students in Blackboard during the upgrade process, but will be available prior to December 10th or after the upgrade has completed, approximately 5PM MST on December 10th. All courses created prior to the scheduled upgrade in the current Blackboard version will be upgraded to the 9.1 version.

Faculty teaching courses during the interim session can reference http://www.unco.edu/blackboard/ for additional support and details regarding the new version. Resources include narrated PowerPoint presentations and video information sessions that provide an introduction to Blackboard 9.1 and its features. There is also a schedule of "hands-on" orientation sessions in December and January that introduce the updated Blackboard interface to new and experienced users and provide practice performing the basic functions necessary to modify and facilitate a Blackboard course in the new version.
